Watercolor Materials & Supplies List

A Watercolor Paint set is required.
We recommend Holbein’s watercolors (12-color set) 5 ml tubes, or a comparable option of your choice.
A more affordable, but suitable option is the Kuretake Gansai Tambi Watercolor Pans (24 color set)
The most affordable, minimalist approach—that is very suitable to the desert landscape is a limited palette of the following colors:
Cadmium Red (or comparable color)
Yellow Ochre
Ivory Black
Payne’s Gray
Titanium White

We recommend (1) Arches Spiral-bound Watercolor Travel Journal, cold-pressed watercolor paper (6”x 10”). [The hot-pressed option is also suitable.]
A more affordable, but suitable option is the Strathmore 400 series cold-pressed watercolor pad (12 sheets) 6”x 12”.
We also recommend an additional watercolor paper pad, but this option is NOT REQUIRED.

An assortment of watercolors brushes of your choosing, is required.
An affordable, but suitable option is: (3) Sumi-ink brushes: size 2, size 4, size 6.
We also recommend (1) 1 3/8” Hake brush.

A white, palette, approx. 11” x 14”.

A portable, lightweight easel large enough to accommodate a 9” x 12” pad of paper.

We recommend having a large water bottle filled with drinking water.
A separate, full water bottle is required for use with the paints and cleaning brushes. (8-12 oz.)
