What to Expect
All participants must register online in order to be eligible for the competition. Registration closes on November 7th, 2026.
Our monthly, Tailgate Art Exhibition, at the Cowboy Shack Trailhead, is open to artists of all ages and skill levels. Participants pay an entrance fee of $10 (+3% transaction fee) and will display their work on the tailgate, or in the trunk of their parked vehicles.
Participants will vote for their (3) favorite works on display. The (3) artists with the most votes will receive monetary prizes, that in total, will equal “half the pot” of the total entrance fees.

***Monthly prize winners can enter the competition (no entry fee needed) but they are ineligible to win prize money (2) consecutive months in a row.
***Artists are encouraged to include an artist bio, and a brief description or caption relating to your work.

How many works can I submit?
Winners of the art competition get free entry into the following monthly exhibition (No Registration Required), but they are ineligible to win two, consecutive months in a row.
What types of artwork can I submit?
All original artworks including, but not limited to, paintings, drawings, printmaking, photography, ceramics, sculpture, etc. are eligible for submission.
***THIS IS A FAMILY-FRIENDLY EVENT, OPEN TO CHILDREN OF ALL AGES. WORK CONTAINING GRAPHIC IMAGES, HATEFUL OR INAPPROPRIATE LANGUAGE, VIOLENCE, AND/OR SEXUAL CONTENT ARE NOT ALLOWED.
***ARTWORK MUST NOT HAVE ANY ELEMENTS THAT ARE POTENTIALLY HAZARDOUS OR DANGEROUS TO PARTICIPANTS, OR THE ENVIRONMENT. FLAMMABLE, OR INCENDIARY DEVICES OR COMPONENTS ARE NOT ALLOWED.
All artwork must fit on the tailgate of the vehicle, or inside the truck space of the vehicle you arrived in. If multiple participants are sharing a vehicle, their submissions must still fit on the tailgate, or in the trunk space of the vehicle they arrived in. ***Minimal adjustments to this rule may be made in order to accommodate carpooling groups of 5 or more participants.
Who gets to vote?
Can I keep winning?
Only registered participants who have paid the entry fee can cast a ballot for the top (3) artworks on display. However, we encourage anyone, especially friends and families of the artists to attend and view the artworks on display.
***If needed, a tie-breaking vote will be cast by an impartial third-party.
Only (1) artwork submission per participant.
All artwork must fit on the tailgate, or in the trunk space of your vehicle. Participants are entirely responsible for the proper display of their artwork. Keep in mind it should be easily visible to voting members as they pass by your parked vehicle. ***Artwork must be on your tailgate or in the trunk space of your vehicle.
